Aboriginal Education

Willunga High School is proud to offer extensive support for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their families.

 

Our support includes:

  • providing a culturally safe learning space for students
  • advocacy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and caregivers
  • support with social and emotional wellbeing
  • 1:1 tutoring for senior students
  • developing Individual Learning Plans (ILP)
  • support with career planning and links to tertiary institutions
  • linking students with community and cultural events
  • referring students or family members to external services
  • supporting staff in implementing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives across the curriculum
  • cultural assistance for staff.

We have a decorated history of connecting with events and organisations such as:

  • Southern NAIDOC Week march
  • annual Nunga Tag rugby tournament
  • visits to Flinders University and Adelaide University
  • Southern Reconciliation Week
  • South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) conferences
  • Southern WorkAbout Centre
  • South Australian Sports Training Academy (SAASTA)
