Aboriginal Education
Willunga High School is proud to offer extensive support for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their families.
Our support includes:
- providing a culturally safe learning space for students
- advocacy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and caregivers
- support with social and emotional wellbeing
- 1:1 tutoring for senior students
- developing Individual Learning Plans (ILP)
- support with career planning and links to tertiary institutions
- linking students with community and cultural events
- referring students or family members to external services
- supporting staff in implementing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives across the curriculum
- cultural assistance for staff.
We have a decorated history of connecting with events and organisations such as:
- Southern NAIDOC Week march
- annual Nunga Tag rugby tournament
- visits to Flinders University and Adelaide University
- Southern Reconciliation Week
- South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) conferences
- Southern WorkAbout Centre
- South Australian Sports Training Academy (SAASTA)
